Ingredients for Big Mac Tacos
- Minced meat – I recommend using any lower-fat beef or mixed minced meat. These days there usually are a lot of higher protein and low fat ground meat options in the store, but if you can’t find any then there’s always the option of letting your local butcher shop prepare you some with a custom order. If calories are not an issue, choose any type of your favorite ground meat.
- Tortillas – Any medium-sized tortillas of your choice will work. It should be noted that with medium-sized tortillas, 10.5 oz / 300 g of minced meat will make three taco burgers, with larger tortillas, it’ll be enough for two.
- Cheese – Different slices of processed cheese are best suited here, which melt faster when placed on the burger. If desired, use any other sort of your favorite cheese.
- Iceberg lettuce – Iceberg lettuce is the best of the different salads for this recipe, bringing plenty of freshness and giving a good crunch.
- Onion – one small white or red onion for the Big Mac sauce.
- Pickle – any of your favorite sweet and sour dill pickle sort will work.
- Light mayonnaise – My personal favorite is Hellmann’s light, but any mayonnaise you prefer will do.
- Ketchup – Any ketchup of your choice for the Big Mac sauce.
- Mild mustard – Adds a nice spiciness to the Big Mac sauce. Dijon mustard is also very good to use in this recipe.
Optional:
- Sesame seeds – Like the original Big Mac buns, sesame seeds are also a good garnish for this taco burger.
How to make Big Mac Smash Burger Tacos?
- Chop iceberg lettuce, onion and pickles and mix together the burger sauce – Slice the iceberg lettuce into thin strips and chop the onion and pickles into as small cubes as possible. For the sauce, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mild mustard, chopped onion and pickles in a small mixing bowl. Season with a pinch of ground salt and pepper and mix evenly.
- Prepare the taco burgers – Divide all the ground beef into three equal ~3.5 oz / 100 g portions. Press the ground beef onto the tortillas in a thin layer so that it covers the entire tortilla to the edges. Season the pressed ground beef on the tortilla with ground salt and pepper. If you use medium-sized tortillas, the ground beef in the recipe is enough for three taco burgers. If you use larger tortillas, the ground beef is enough for two taco burgers.
- Fry the taco burgers – Heat a pan over high heat and add a thin layer of olive oil. Place the tortilla covered with the ground meat in the pan, ground meat side down, and fry for ~2 minutes until the ground meat has browned. Turn the heat to medium, flip the tortilla over, place a slice of melted cheese on top of the burger, and cover the pan with a lid for about a minute. When the bottom of the tortilla has browned and the cheese has melted a little, remove the taco burger from the pan.
- Cover the tacos with lettuce and burger sauce – Place the previously mixed burger sauce and chopped lettuce on top of the taco burger. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Fold the tacos together and cut them in half with a knife if desired to make them easier to eat. Enjoy!

Smash Burger Tacos

- 3 medium tortillas
- 5 oz iceberg lettuce 150g
- 3 slices processed cheese
- Salt
- Pepper
Big Mac Sauce
- 1 pickled cucumber ~50g / ~1.7 oz
- 1 small onion
- 3 tbsp light mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mild mustard
Optional
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
Bic Mac Sauce Instructions
- Cut the onion and pickled cucumber into small cubes and place in a small bowl. Pour the mayonnaise, ketchup and mild mustard over them and mix until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Smash Burger
- Cut the iceberg lettuce into thin strips.
- Divide the minced meat into three equal pieces and place on top of the tortillas. Press the minced meat evenly over the tortilla so that the entire tortilla is covered with minced meat to the edges. Repeat the process with all three tortillas (if you use larger tortillas, there will be enough minced meat for two taco burgers). Season the minced meat evenly with salt and pepper.
- Heat a pan over high heat and coat with a thin layer of olive oil. Place the minced meat-covered tortilla, meat side down, in the pan and fry for ~2 minutes, until the minced meat has turned brown. Turn the heat down, flip the taco burger over in the pan, place a slice of melted cheese on top and cover the pan with a lid. Let the taco burger fry for about a minute, until the bottom of the tortilla has turned brown and the cheese has slightly melted. Remove the taco burger from the pan and repeat the same process with the remaining tacos.
- Place the sauce and iceberg lettuce on top of the taco burgers and fold them together. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and cut in half down the middle for easier eating. Enjoy!
